DEPARTMENT 02 · THE MIRROR

Clean. Intentional.
Never overdone.

The best grooming routine is boring, repeatable and finished before you can talk yourself out of it.

The five-minute face.

Not a shelf full of products. A sequence you can do half asleep.

00:00

Wash

Use a gentle cleanser or simply rinse if your skin runs dry. Hot water is not a personality.

01:00

Shave or line up

Follow the grain first. Keep beard edges clean at the cheeks and neck.

03:00

Moisturize

Use a simple moisturizer. In daylight, make it SPF 30 or better.

04:00

Hair

Start with less product than you think. Add only where control is needed.

04:45

Scent

One or two sprays. You should be discovered, not announced.

Ask for a shape, not a number.

Tell your barber how you wear it, how often you style it and what bothers you as it grows. Bring one realistic reference photo. “Short on the sides” is not a plan.

  • Rebook before you leave.
  • Clean the neckline between cuts.
  • Choose matte product for natural texture.
  • Use a comb before adding more product.

Commit to clean-shaven or maintained.

The accidental third option rarely helps. If you keep a beard, establish a neckline one to two fingers above the Adam's apple and keep the mustache off the lip.

Three products cover most men.

A gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Add a nighttime retinoid only after the basic routine is consistent and your skin tolerates it.

AM

Rinse or cleanse → moisturizer → SPF.

PM

Cleanse → treatment if used → moisturizer.

WEEKLY

Change pillowcase. Clean razor. Trim nails.

Smell expensive, quietly.

Choose by setting, not by the loudest opening in the store.

WORK

Clean woods

Cedar, vetiver, tea, iris and restrained citrus. Close to the skin, never across the conference table.

WEEKEND

Fresh texture

Bergamot, green notes, marine air or dry herbs. Easy without smelling like body spray.

EVENING

Warm depth

Amber, tobacco, leather, vanilla or spice. Use less; these materials travel.

How to test

Spray one scent on each wrist, leave the store and wait at least two hours. The opening is advertising. The dry-down is what you live with. Never judge five fragrances on paper in ten minutes.

How to apply

One spray to the chest and, if the fragrance is light, one to the back of the neck. Do not rub wrists together. Do not spray the room and walk through it like a music video.

Keep the counter nearly empty.
